Giveaway Terms
Version 1.0 · effective 16 October 2026
Promoter: Nick Wilson trading as Nick Does Business, 20 Wenlock Road, Hoxton, Hackney, London N1 7GU, United Kingdom; email hello@nick-does-business.com ("the Promoter"). The giveaway is a free prize draw and is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by any other company or platform.
1. Free entry. Entry is free. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary, and buying anything from Nick Does Business does not improve your chances of winning.
2. Eligibility. The draw is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 or over at the time of entry. The Promoter and members of the Promoter's immediate family or household are not eligible. The Promoter may ask any selected entrant for reasonable evidence of age, identity and UK residence before awarding the prize.
3. How to enter. Enter your first name and email address on nick-does-business.com/giveaway. Each person may register only once, may hold only one active entry and may use only one email address. Entries made through automated means, bulk submission, false identities or attempts to hold multiple entries are invalid, and the Promoter may disqualify all of the entries concerned, recording the reason.
4. Continuous entry. Entry stays open at all times. You register once. Your entry is then automatically included in every later draw, without re-entering, until (a) you withdraw it, (b) it is disqualified for a documented reason, including because you are or become ineligible, or (c) you have previously been awarded a prize. An entrant has been "awarded a prize" once they have accepted it and passed verification; being selected and then not replying, failing verification or declining does not count as being awarded, but that entry is not included again in the same draw.
5. Draw schedule and cut-off. Entry opens publicly on the launch date, which the Promoter records and shows on the giveaway page. The first draw takes place 90 days after the launch date, and each later draw takes place 90 days after the previous scheduled draw date. Each draw is started manually by the Promoter using the secure random selection system described in clause 6; it is not automated. The entry cut-off for each draw is 23:59 UK time on the day before that draw date. The giveaway page always shows the next draw date and its entry cut-off. Entry stays open at all times, including after a cut-off: an entry received after a cut-off is included in the following draw. If a draw cannot be held on its scheduled date for reasons beyond the Promoter's reasonable control, it is held as soon as reasonably possible, the delay and reason are shown on the giveaway page, and the following draw dates are unchanged.
6. Winner selection. At each draw the Promoter freezes a list of all eligible entries at the cut-off and selects one winner at random using a cryptographically secure random number generator, with every eligible entry having an equal chance. A record is kept of the number of eligible entries, the time of selection, the entry selected and the person who initiated it. The result cannot be changed except by a documented redraw under clause 8.
7. Notification. The winner is notified by email at the address used to enter, within 14 calendar days of the draw. The winner must reply within 14 calendar days of the date the notification email is sent to accept the prize and begin verification.
8. Redraws. If a selected entrant does not reply within 14 calendar days, is found to be ineligible, fails verification, or declines the prize, the Promoter will carry out a redraw from the remaining eligible entries in the same frozen list, using the same method, within 7 calendar days. This is repeated until the prize is accepted by a verified winner or no eligible entries remain. The reason for every redraw is recorded. In the unlikely event that no eligible entries remain in the frozen list, no prize is awarded for that draw, this is recorded and shown on the giveaway page, and the next draw takes place as scheduled with its own single prize.
9. The prize. Each draw has one prize, which is EITHER Prize A OR Prize B below, never both.
Prize A (main prize): ownership of one online business with an assessed value of at least £10,000, together with 12 months of personal email-based business guidance from Nick as described in clause 12.
Prize B (alternative prize): £10,000 GBP in cash, awarded only if no qualifying business is available under clause 11. Prize B does NOT include the 12 months of guidance, any business, asset or other service. Prize B is a different prize from Prize A: it is not presented as equivalent in value, and entrants should enter on the basis that they may receive Prize B instead of Prize A.
Valuation. A business qualifies for Prize A only if its value of at least £10,000 is supported by written evidence recorded before the draw, consisting of either (a) an independent valuation by a person with no financial interest in the business, or (b) a documented assessment by the Promoter supported by objective evidence such as verified revenue and costs, comparable sales of similar businesses, or documented development cost. The advertised asking price on its own is not sufficient. The valuation record is kept with the draw record and a summary is given to the winner. Value means an assessed value only; it is not an amount of cash, a guarantee that the business can be sold for that amount, or a guarantee of any income.
10. Which business. The specific business awarded under Prize A is chosen by the Promoter from the eligible businesses available at the time of the draw and is disclosed to the winner, with a written description of what is included and excluded, before the winner accepts. No particular business is promised in advance.
11. When the cash alternative applies. Before each draw the Promoter makes and records a reasonable, written assessment of whether a qualifying business (clause 9) is available to award, taking into account whether it is owned by the Promoter, free of any pending sale, reservation or agreement with another buyer, and capable of transfer under clause 13. If a qualifying business is available, the prize is Prize A. If none is available, the prize is Prize B: £10,000 GBP, paid by bank transfer to a UK bank account in the winner's own name within 30 days of successful verification. Where Prize A is available, the winner cannot choose Prize B instead, and declining Prize A does not entitle the winner to Prize B. Where Prize B is awarded, the winner is not entitled to any business or to the guidance in clause 12, and the cash amount is not changed to reflect the value of that guidance.
12. Business guidance (Prize A only). A winner awarded Prize A receives 12 months of personal email-based business guidance from Nick, starting on the date the business transfer completes and ending 12 months later. Guidance is given by email to the winner's verified address. Nick aims to respond within 2 business days (Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays in England); this is a response target, not a guarantee. Guidance does not include development work, advertising expenditure, business operations, or any guaranteed financial results. Guidance cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to another person, or paused or extended, and unused guidance has no cash value.
13. Transfer (Prize A only). The business is transferred under a written transfer agreement listing the assets included and excluded. Transfer may require the winner to open their own accounts with third-party services (for example hosting, domain, email, payments) and to accept those providers' terms. Ongoing running costs after transfer (such as hosting, domain renewals and subscriptions) are the winner's responsibility. The Promoter pays its own costs of transfer. The Promoter will complete the transfer within 60 days of the winner's acceptance and successful verification, provided the winner promptly takes the reasonable steps the transfer requires (such as opening accounts and signing the transfer agreement). If the transfer cannot be completed within that period for reasons not caused by the winner, the Promoter will either offer another qualifying business or, if none is available, pay Prize B within a further 30 days. If the winner does not take the required steps within 30 days of being asked in writing, the Promoter may treat the prize as declined and carry out a redraw under clause 8. Neither prize is transferable to another person, and no cash alternative is offered except under this clause and clause 11.
14. No guarantees. No earnings, profit, financial success or resale value are guaranteed. The winner may operate the business or try to sell it, entirely at their own risk and cost. The winner is responsible for any tax due on the prize and for complying with laws that apply to running the business.
15. Withdrawal. You can withdraw your entry at any time using the link in your entry confirmation email or by emailing hello@nick-does-business.com. A withdrawn entry is excluded from any draw whose list has not yet been frozen.
16. Privacy. Entry details are used only to run the giveaway (entry administration, draws, winner contact and verification, prize award and guidance, record keeping). Entering does not subscribe you to marketing emails. See the Privacy Policy for retention periods and your data rights.
17. Winner information and publicity. As required by the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (CAP Code rule 8.28.5), the Promoter will publish, or make available on request, the winner's surname and county, and the prize awarded. Before entering, you are told this here. The winner may object to this information being published or made available, or ask for it to be limited (for example, surname only or county only). If the winner objects, the Promoter will not publish it but may still be required to provide it to the Advertising Standards Authority on request. The winner's first name, photograph, email address and any other details will not be published without the winner's separate written permission, which can be withdrawn at any time for future use.
18. Records and complaints. The Promoter keeps a record of each draw. Questions or complaints should be sent to hello@nick-does-business.com and will be answered in writing.
19. Changes. If circumstances beyond the Promoter's reasonable control require it, the Promoter may amend or end the giveaway, publishing a new version of these terms. Changes do not affect any draw whose entry cut-off has already passed.
20. Law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any rights you have to bring proceedings in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
